Volleyball Team

Volleyball is one of the very few indoor sports that's allowed during COVID. So I used the 2 years of pandemic wisely to develop this skill. I was trained as a setter, so that became one of my titles. I'm the second one from left in the team photo; chose number 8 because it represent infinite possibilities.

First practice

That 1st practice is my very first experience with high school athletic teams. I meet my teammates, and majority of them are taller, stronger, got better skills and strategies than me. I directly faced my room of improvement.

Join practice right after 2nd does of COVID vaccine

Athletes usually get a day off after vaccination, but I decided to join practice while the band-aid is still on my arm.

First game

None of us knew how to block; we haven't had a libero; the backups didn't know when to call "out" or "tip". Most of the problem we had got solved though the season.

Cooperating with hitters

Cooperate with teammates and team building is the key to success for a sports team. For volleyball, cooperation between setters and hitters is especially important. I carefully observe my hitters whenever possible.

Warm up with mask on

We sometimes play games at schools that have COVID restrictions like mandatory mask wearing. Wearing masks during sports is hard, but not most people can have the unique experience of fighting in a athletic team during COVID at their high school years.
